ABAKALIKI—The people of Mgbaleze Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, are still trying to unravel the mystery behind the body of a member of the community found dangling from a tree in his farm, with his wife’s corpse nearby in a pool of blood and marks of violence all over her. It was learned that 36-year-old Mr. Ani, and his wife left for the farm but did not return home. A search party was sent out by the community, only to discover their bodies in the farm. A resident of the community, Chief Sylvanus Ani, revealed that the couple was seen last on their way to the farm. He said: “They went to the farm and did not return home.
At some point, we were disturbed so we informed other villagers, mobilised and went in search of them. “We finally found the wife, Ngozi , lying dead in a pool of blood with marks of violence all over her body, while Chijioke Ani, was found hanging from a tree.” When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP George Okafor, who confirmed the incident, said the man may have killed the wife and hanged himself. He assured that police would get to the root of the incident, as investigation had commenced.
